Welcome to the Colonial Ministry of Defense (CMoD), a fan-based organization patterned off the military organization depicted in the television shows Battlestar Galactica® (1978, 1980, and 2003). The CMoD is centered around the “surviving” military forces of the 12 Colonies in the wake of the surprise Cylon attack.

Members of the CMoD come from a wide variety of backgrounds and geographic locations. But they all share one common bond: a love and appreciation of Battlestar Galactica® and the ideas and philosophies espoused in both the original and re-imagined incarnations of the television series.

Membership in the CMoD is free and does not expire. Should you decide you no longer want to be a member, simply send an email to the CMoD Chief of Data Operations stating you'd like to have your membership and information removed from the organization.
Being as the CMoD is patterned off the military system depicted in the series Battlestar Galactica®, both before and after the Cylon attack on the colonies, the membership options reflect the same. When joining the CMoD, you’ll need to choose from the following membership options:

Fleet Officer: Members who are at least 17 years of age.
Fleet Enlisted: Members who are under 17 years of age or members at least 17 years of age who choose not to be officers.
Fleet Enlisted Pilot: Members at least 17 years of age who choose to be a Raptor pilot but not to be an officer.
Fleet Pilot: Members who are at least 17 years of age and choose to be either a Viper or Raptor pilot
Warrior/Marine Officer: Members at least 17 years of age.

Warrior/Marine Enlisted: Members under 17 years of age or members at least 17 years of age who choose not to be officers..
Warrior/Marine Enlisted Pilot: Members at least 17 years of age who choose to be a Raptor pilot but not to be an officer.
Civilian: Members who choose not to participate in the military aspects of the organization. No age limit.

Members will also need to choose their Colony of Origin (See Fleets and Chapters for a list). In other words, which of the 12 Colonies do they come from, as well as the chapter they wish to be assigned to. If the member does not select a chapter at the time they join, they will be listed as unassigned until such time as they choose a chapter.
